Harvesting good fruit
When you eat Brazilian melons you are contributing towards strengthening fruit-growing activities in Brazil’s northeast region, generating thousands of jobs and benefiting those who work in the fields in their own region. It is harvesting the best of this fruit for the whole world to enjoy.
This means a prosperous northeast that pursues its natural vocation, by supplying the world with top quality fruit of unrivalled taste. This leads to improvements in the quality of life of those who work in the fields and generates and distributes wealth in the whole of the region, just as happens in the world’s major fruit-growing regions.
There are various entities in the region that seek ways of valuing the human condition by improving access to food, health and, above all, education. They believe in a union between society, companies, government, entities and citizens in order to bring about a social transformation in the region. This work is beginning today to guarantee a better life for future generations.
Local melon-producing companies have a modern vision, both of how to treat their products as well as how to handle labor and community relations. By generating employment in the irrigated fruit-growing sector companies are striving to provide their employees with better qualifications and to play an active part in this daily journey.
The work of NGOs is carried out at those critical points where the needs of the Northeast are greatest; the rural communities, the small towns, villages and hamlets where the large population that works in the fields lives and finds itself marginalized from the processes for spreading education and culture, which are common in urban centers.
