Melons are first in terms of the volume of fresh fruit exported from Brazil, the main market being the European Union, followed by North America. 

Melons are traditionally exported by sea, mostly in containers.

The Netherlands is the biggest importer, but the country functions as a major distributor for the whole of Europe.
